Alan Beaver Obituary

Alan Lane Beaver, 70, of Granite Quarry, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center with his wife by his side. Born on March 20, 1951 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Carlee A. Beaver and the late Quinn M. Beaver.

After graduating from East Rowan High School in 1969, he started what became a 38-year career with Duke Energy. He began working at Buck Steam Station, later progressing to McGuire Nuclear Station where he became a Licensed Nuclear Reactor Operator for many years. From that he transitioned to Emergency Planning; and, working in that capacity, he experienced a whole new level of security responsibility following the travesty of September 11, 2001. After retiring from Duke Energy in 2007, Alan enjoyed various and vast volunteer work in many capacities in the community and church including his volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity of Rowan County.

Alan was known for never meeting a stranger, sharing his testimony for the Gospel, and living an exemplary Christian life. He was a source of comfort and blessing to many.

In his earlier years, Alan began developing a love for sports of all kinds and enjoyed hunting small game.

The Beaver family wishes to express their profound gratitude and praise for the genuine expressions of Christian love directed to Alan by many of his friends and members from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Christiana Lutheran church especially during the last few years.

In addition to his parents Carlee and Quinn Beaver, Alan was preceded in death by brothers Donald W. Beaver, Bobby D. Beaver, Harold D. Beaver, Gary A. Beaver Sr. and sister Lana B. Moore.

Left to cherish his memories are the love of his life, his wife of 29 years, LaVaughn Doyle Beaver of Granite Quarry; daughter in Christ, Leigh A. Walther (husband Dan) of Cleveland, NC; sisters-in-law Becky C. Beaver of Rockwell, NC; Helen M. Beaver of Wilson, NC; and Lena K. Beaver of Clemmons, NC; Matilda D. Eddy (husband Roger) of Mooresville, NC; Kate D. Beretsky (husband Mike) of Granite Quarry, NC; Gwen D. Saunders (husband Neil) of Mooresville, NC; and many loving nieces and nephews.
