Augustus Edward Sullivan Sr., 83, of Salisbury, NC was born on August 26, 1938 in Harrisburg, PA and fell asleep in death on September 2, 2021, at Novant Health Heart Smith & Vascular Institute in Salisbury, NC surrounded by family. He was predeceased by his parents Katie and William Sullivan, his sister Ann Napper, Brothers Danny and Carlos.

Left to remember a life well-lived are Shelia Sullivan, the wife & partner he watched over and adored for 49 years; his children he loved and did his best to protect: Phillip Sullivan (Sheila), Catherine Hollis, Dr. Angela Sullivan, Augustus E. Sullivan Jr., Paula Washington and Andrea Stanback (William). Eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one on the way, one great-great grandchild. Along with a host of precious relatives and friends.

Gus (as he was affectionately known) was a 1956 graduate of John Harris High School in Harrisburg, PA. He was a Veteran of the United States Airforce. He was jazz musician, playing the Alto and Tenor Saxaphone with his band, the Jazz Masters, the band named him “Professor”. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1992 after 31 years as a mail handler. He enjoyed reading and studying the bible, traveling, card games, listening to music and playing his Saxaphone. He enjoyed having insightful spiritual discussions, with family and friends.

In June, 1974 Gus symbolized his dedication as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He built a foundation as a faithful and zealous servant; he was a faithful pioneer for twenty-nine years, having the privilege to serve in many local states: Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Maryland, Rhode Island, Florida, Georgia, Virginia and North Carolina. Gus set a wonderful example for the love he had for the ministry, strongly centering his life to preach and teach the truth of God’s word the Bible.

He served as a Ministerial Servant in the West Salisbury Congregation, and was very dependable when it came to assisting his spiritual brothers and sisters in the Ministry. He will be truly missed. We know it will be a short time around the corner when we see him again.
