Ernest Lee "Ernie" Sides

Ernest Lee “Ernie” Sides, 85, of Charlotte passed away Monday, January 14, 2018 at Presbyterian Medical Center following a prolonged illness.

Mr. Sides was born on October 14, 1933 in Rowan County. He was the son of the late John Sides and Beulah May Misenheimer Sides.

Mr. Sides attended Boyden High School and worked at the NEHI Bottling Company and Reynolds Aluminum. He retired from Celanese and White Rock Garden Apartments.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy “Becky” Ruth Walton Sides following 56 years of marriage and brother, Howard Sides.

Survivors include his sister, Louise Sides Wells; daughters, Wendy Reneé Sides Ledbetter of Concord and Lee Ann Sides Garrett of Granite Quarry; sons, Tony Wayne Sides of Concord and Michael Ray Sides (Heather) of Concord; grandchildren, Jason Christopher Nichols, Daniel Hall Ledbetter, Jasa Rain Stephens, Justin Lee Logan (Elora), Ashley Brooke Logan; great-grandchild, Ariana Lee Nichols; caretakers, Henry and Sylvia Emenanjor and special family friend, Angela Stewart.

Visitation: 12:00-12:45 PM Friday, January 18, 2019 at the Union Lutheran Church Dutch Meeting Hall, 4770 Bringle Ferry Rd., Salisbury, NC 28146.

Service: 1:00 PM Friday at Union Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Corbell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
