Franklin Morris Stevens, Sr., 90, of Salisbury passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Atrium Health Cabarrus Medical Center in Concord.
Born in Jones County, Georgia on May 20, 1930, he was the son of the late Lydia Jane Balkcom Stevens and Henry Morris Stevens.
After an honorable discharge from the US Air Force in November, 1953, Franklin worked as an electrician for Stroh Brewery in Winston-Salem.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Britt; sisters, Mary Moore, Ellen Kamp; brothers, William, Julian, and Delano Stevens.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Twyla Nickels Stevens, whom he married on November 5, 1953; children, Frank Morris Stevens, Jr. (fiancée Rhonda) of St. Charles, MO, Lydia Sue Evans (Ed) of Charlotte, NC, and Julian D. Stevens (Kimberly) of Salisbury; sister, Elizabeth Dorsey of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Traci Smith, Amy Floyd (Ricky), Brandi Morris (James), Garrison Flynn (Eric), McKenzie Stevens, Blaise Stevens (Brittne), and Alexandria Evans (Casey); 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson due in December.
Graveside Service: 11:00 am Monday, November 9, 2020 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144 with the Rev. James Sharp officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Joint Services Volunteer Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in memory of Frank Stevens and in honor of Caleb Shaffer.
