George Michael Myers

George Michael Myers, 72, of Salisbury passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the North Carolina State Veteran’s Home.

Born in Rowan County on August 5, 1950, he was the son of the late Doris Waller and Captain Alexander Myers “Pete”.

Mr. Myers was a veteran of the US Army, serving two tours in Vietnam. He worked at Duke Power in many different positions for over 20 years. He also had a trucking business, M&J Trucking. Mr. Myers was a very loving grandfather who spoiled all of his grandchildren. He liked his firearms. He had a smile and a laugh that would light up a room. He enjoyed all things outdoors. He could not stay still and enjoyed going to different places spending time with family. All in all he lived a simple life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jenean Myers.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Matthew Myers (Ashley) of Statesville and Tommy Myers of Mooresville; daughter, Kristi Kime (Jared) of Troutman; brother, Ricky Alexander Myers (Rene) of Florida; sister, Freda Myers Smith (Andy) of Statesville; grandchildren, Derek Thompson, Drake Myers, and Aidyn Kime.

Service: 1:00 PM Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144 with military honors conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Joint Services Honor Guard.
