Jeffrey Paul "JP" Smith

Jeffrey Paul "JP" Smith, 57, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, January 3rd, 2022.

A lifelong resident of North Carolina, JP was born in Lexington on October 1st, 1964. He was happiest when building a muscle car or enjoying a beer. He worked various blue collar jobs in his time, most recently as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver at Peeple's Bark & Stone. He had a good sense of humor and an infectious laugh. It wasn't out of character for him to sing, dance, or do impressions.

JP is survived by his significant other, Lori Peeples, of Salisbury; his daughter, Nicole (Brandon) Dick of Summerville, SC; his son, Josh Smith of Statesville; 5 grandchildren: Cadence, Haley, Nadia, Letty, and Trevor; 5 sisters: Teresa Meadows, of Advance, Larrie (Danny) Frank, of Mocksville, Hattie (Tony) Hildreth, of Norwood, Sherrie (Tim) Kesler, of Salisbury, and Carol (Keith) Shattuck, of Midland; and 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Boyd Smith; his stepfather, Clyde Eugene "Gene" Goforth; his mother, Virginia Doris Goforth (nee Beam); and an infant daughter, Crystal Marie.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Toys for Tots.
