Joseph Maxwell Kent, Sr., 83, of Salisbury passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at his residence.
Born in Thomaston, GA on July 29, 1938, he was the son of the late Annie Lou Bishop Kent and Earlin Leon Kent.
Mr. Kent attended Lee University in Cleveland, TN. He was an entrepreneur who worked in real estate and also owned and operated several local restaurants. He was a member of the Republican National Committee and Toastmasters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Joyce Kent; grandson, Dillon Kluttz; brothers, Leon and John Kent and stepson, Luke Harkins.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joan Harkins Kent, whom he married on June 21, 2018; son, Joseph Maxwell Kent, Jr. (Leslie) of Buford, GA; daughters, Mimi Kent Joyner (Ray), Amy Kent Kluttz (Mike), Courtney Kent Alderman (Josh), all of Salisbury; sisters, Yvonne Hamby and Sue Wright, both of Georgia; Andrea Harkins Smith (Rodney) of Gainesville, GA; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service will be held Friday December 3rd at 3:00 pm at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury.
