Robin Agner Obituary

Robin Lee Agner, 69, of China Grove, died Thursday, November 3, 2022. Born November 7, 1952, in Mecklenburg County, Robin was the son of the late Nancy Lyerly Agner and Ned Agner. He graduated from East Rowan High School in 1971 and was a lifelong member of Christiana Lutheran Church. After High School, Robin joined the Army Reserves.

Robin married Patsy Benfield, whom he dearly loved, on April 7, 1980. Robin was an avid NASCAR fan and worked as a crew member for the Terry Labonte team. In 2018 Robin was awarded Mechanic of the year from Old Timers Racing Club of which he was an active member. He was also a member of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club.

Robin was employed at Republic Foil and later at Apache Stove where he and Patsy worked side by side. He spent many years traveling the United States employed by J R Tower Service building radio and television towers. Wanting more family time, Robin began working with All Secure Alarms and later opened his own home security business, Absolute Security. Robin retired in 2001 after an extended illness.

Throughout his life Robin’s greatest pleasures were attending events involving his daughter and grandchildren; camping with Patsy, grandchildren, and friends; and taking pristine care of his automobiles.

Robin was preceded in death by his mother, father, and grandson, Ethan Mastro.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Patsy Agner, daughter Alisha Mastro (Ben), granddaughter Lacey, and aunt Harriet Lyerly, all of Salisbury, cousin Danny Sink of San Francisco, California, and his loving sister-in-law, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

A service celebrating Robin’s life will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Salisbury with Reverend Dr. Mark Conforti officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 AM in the Carter Lobby at First United Methodist Church. Military honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Joint Services Honor Guard following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ethan Mastro Memorial Scholarship Fund, 1306 Wrenwood Ct, Salisbury, NC 28146 or the Old Timers Racing Club, 125 N. East Dr, Archdale, NC 27263.
