Sherman B. “Doc” Warner, 84, of Salisbury passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at his residence.
Born in Cook County, IL on November 17, 1936, he was the son of the late Fae Elizabeth Leisner and William Barton Warner.
Dr. Warner graduated from Augusta High School. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and his Doctorate from Columbia Pacific University. He was a member of the United Methodist Clergy. Dr. Warner loved music and enjoyed singing, playing the piano and organ. He pastored many churches in Wisconsin and western North Carolina, including most recently in South China Grove and Clear Springs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Florence Warner.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Beverly Hintz Warner, whom he married on June 15, 1985; son, Steven Warner (Rexi) of Bloomington, MN; daughters, Sandy Bevels of Salisbury, NC and Loni Wolfmeyer (John) of Mooresville, NC; brother, Joe Warner (Joella) of Rockford, IL; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A service will be held Friday, August 6 at 2pm in the Aymer Center located on the campus of Hood Theological Seminary, 1810 Lutheran Synod Dr., Salisbury. Visitation will follow the service.
