Shirley Smith Obituary

Shirley Doris Smith, 90, of Salisbury passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Brookdale of Salisbury Assisted Living.

Born in Watsontown, PA on September 16, 1931, she was the only child and daughter of the late Eileen Bernice (Holliday) Myers and Dorsey J. Myers.

Shirley was a graduate of Watsontown High School in Pennsylvania and worked for RCA/GE for 31 years. She retired in Salisbury, North Carolina from Drums, Pennsylvania, was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, a meals-on-wheels volunteer, and a beloved friend to many. Shirley was an avid record-keeper and never missed a Birthday or Anniversary. She sent a card for almost every occasion.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Ralph Smith, to whom she was married on March 5, 1948 for 64 years and her Granddaughter, Carleen Lillian Marchetti.

Starrett (Richard) of Salisbury, NC; Grandchildren, Todd Smith (Denise) of Drums, PA, Jason Smith of Drums, PA, Chad Smith (Tracey) of Drums, PA, Ryan Starrett (Kelli) of Salisbury, NC, and Lindsay Triplett (Josh) of Salisbury, NC; Great-Grandchildren, Brittany Smith, Brittany Winder (Dean), Haley Smith, Brandi Mussoline (Josh), Nicholas Williams, Makenna Williams, Colyn Smith, Jayce Smith, all of Drums, PA and Benjamin Starrett, Deacon Triplett and Calvin Starrett of Salisbury, NC; Great-Great-Grandchildren, Cayden Winder, Brady Winder, and Roman Mussoline of Drums, PA.

A service in Salisbury, NC will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 10:30 in the morning in the Chapel at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 200 W. Innes St. Salisbury, NC 28144. Pastor Rhodes Woolly will preside over the funeral.

A memorial in Drums, PA will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 in the evening at Harman’s Funeral Home at 669 W. Butler Dr. Drums, PA 18222.
