Mr. Vonnie Kesler Agner, age 92 passed away at his home on July 18, 2020 after declining health for a year, surrounded by family.
Born February 3, 1928, he was the son of Walter Homer and Ada Kesler Agner.
His loving wife of 63 years, June Elizabeth Baker Agner, his sisters Freda Kluttz, Margie Hackos and Blanche Agner and his brothers Clyde Agner, Homer Agner and Ned Agner all preceded him in death.
Vonnie was a lifelong member of Union Lutheran Church in Salisbury and served on many committees. He graduated from Granite Quarry School and served in the US Army in the Korean War as a sergeant in charge of a battalion of welders. He worked for Southern Railroad, Home Oil and Coal and retired from Celanese Fiber in 1992.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Brian and Tommy Dale and wife Lisa and his grandsons that were his pride and joy, T.D. Agner, Jr., Dusty Agner, and Troy Agner.
Graveside Service: 10:00 am Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Union Lutheran Church Cemetery, 4770 Bringle Ferry Rd., Salisbury, NC 28146 conducted by Rev. Heidi Punt. Military honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Joint Services Honor Guard.
