A Time to Be Born:

Willie Mae “Mimi” Tomblin Swann was born April 6 1936 to Joseph and Ella Mae Tomblin in Salisbury, North Carolina. Rowan County. Youngest of two children, her brother Joseph Jr who preceded her in death.

A Time to Live:

Willie Mae attended Price High School. She attended First Calvary Church as a child and up until failing health would no longer allow. During her younger years she was faithful and supportive with her selfless service to the Dixonville Community Club and throughout the community wherever needed.

A Time to Love:

Willie Mae was united in Holy Matrimony on 14 February 1953 to Joseph N, Swann and to this union four children were born three of whom survive her. Ms. Willette Swann, of Apple Valley, CA, Michael Swann, Salisbury, NC and Ms. Stephanie Swann, Raeford, NC, son Gregory Swann preceded her in death.

A Time to Serve:

Willie Mae’s initial employment was as a domestic worker but she soon landed a job in a textile plant and retired at Cone Mills in Salisbury after more than 25 years of service. Willie Mae was faithful and devoted, and to those whose life she touched she gave inspiration, strength and guidance.

A Time to Die:

Willie Mae departed this life on Monday 1 July 2019, St Mary Medical Center, Apple Valley, CA. She is survived by 11 grandchildren that include special grand daughter Equinthnia, who Willie Mae raised in her home. 11 great grandchildren, 1 niece, Mrs. Beulah Mae Fleming Tate, a host of cousins and close friends.

Visitation: 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, July 20, 2019 at First Calvary Baptist Church, 400 S Long St, Salisbury, NC 28144.

Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, July 20, 2019 at First Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, 2685 Enon Church Rd, Salisbury, NC 28147.
